In 2017 I went on a 7 week road trip. Having just finished our uni degrees, my friend and I drove out into the wilderness along east coast of Australia.

About halfway through the journey we stopped at a place called Platypus Flat. It was a very standard camping ground, however the river that flowed through it was too beautiful to resist not immersing myself within it.

And so, I staggered into the middle of the riverbed, slowly descended into the cool-mineral-rich stream, and let the overwhelming power of the current massage my tense body.

In that moment I surrendered to mother earth. She rejuvenated and inspired me as I softly gazed upon a twilight sky.

The next day, I effortlessly wrote this song in one sitting. I have changed very little as far as song structure and lyrics since that day.

When recording the song, I felt it was important to add the forest drums, liquid-like electric guitar, synth and some colourful percussion to the already strong vocal/acoustic guitar arrangement.

When you listen to this song, please do so with good quality speakers or headphones, laying down in bed, sitting somewhere relaxed, or driving through an open space, let the tranquil ambience provided by the instrumentation and production de-stress your soul and allow 'The Current' to flow through you.
